Grant holds a Ph.D. in English and spent most of his teaching career working in interdisciplinary studies. He is the winner of several awards for excellence in teaching and
the author of more than thirty books and articles ranging in subject from Shakespeare to Edward Gibbon to modern American fiction.
Grant wrote a forty-eight program course, “The History of World Literature” released as one of The Teaching Company’s “Great Courses” in the Fall of 2007. He is a Professor Emeritus from Monterey Peninsula College.
