Theorbo, Archlute, Foyer Recital Director – Beacon, NY
Richard Kolb performs on many instruments of the lute and guitar family as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral continuo player. He has performed frequently with theater companies including New York City Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Les Musiciens du Louvre and Opera Atelier and with chamber ensembles such as the Waverly Consort, Concert Royal, Fanfare
Consort and Pegasus.
Richard has taught at the University of Toronto, the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), and Wesleyan University. He currently teaches at Case Western University where he is working on a Doctorate.
On a personal note, Richard balances the demands of performing, writing a dissertation about Italian songs of the 1630s and 40s, and being the father of a teenager. He wishes he had more time for hobbies including woodworking, hiking, sailing, canoeing and traditional Italian cooking.
